According the latest press release from Rhapsody, the online music service has officially acquired Napter International. Just this past December, Rhapsody had acquired Napster US for a undisclosed amount and now Rhapsody officially owns Napster international. Rhapsody already provides Napster-branded services to members in Germany and the UK but has not migrated Napster members to Rhapsody services.
The expansion overseas will also bring some changes to the online music service in the up coming months, such as improved offline playback and enhanced library tools. In the press release, Jon Irwin, president of Rhapsody goes on to say that:
There is a lot of room for growth in this market and I firmly believe that 2012 is going to be our biggest year yet.
Consumers in Germany and the UK can expect a free trial offer when signing up for a subscription with Rhapsody. The trail period may be different but the standard Rhapsody 14 day free trail offer is most likely to be offered to new members.
