Netflix Q1 Report of 2012

By -

Netflix has released the Q1 2012 report and it shows that Netflix US currently has over 23.4 million subscribers. Since January Netflix has gained over 3 million new subscribers worldwide. Although Netflix had their downfall last year, CEO Reed Hastings has claimed that they will be on a “rapid return”.

In the fall of 2011 Netflix had lost two-thirds of its value in 3 months. This loss in value was due to the separation of DVD rentals and streaming services (included a price hike) this is also known as the Qwikster fiasco – in my opinion.

The previous events in Netflix history may have left customers bitter but gaining 3 million new subscribers in the first quarter of 2012 shows that customers new and old are regaining their trust in their service.

Netflix has also done well internationally such as in the UK, Ireland, South America and Canada. The premium streaming services has gained roughly 1.2 million new subscribers in this quarter internationally.

Here is quick breakdown the Q1 Report.

  • Total Subscribers: 23.6 m to 24.2 m
  • Revenue: $526 m to $534 m

International:

  • Total Subscribers: 3.45 m to 4.0 m
