3 Services You Should Never Pay for on the Web

By -

I am always looking for a way to save money, whether that’s in real life or online. When surfing the web I try my best to save every penny. It is so much more easier to save money online rather than in stores. So, before I buying any online, I think twice. I ask myself the question: can I get this for free. And some cases the answer is, yes!

There are plenty of services that I believe you should never pay for. Many people purchase services that are already offered by another company for free. Purchasing the “PRO” version of a service does have it’s benefits but not by much. The best practice is to try out the service and see if paying a few extra dollars a month is worth it. That’s when free trials come in handy.

Using the “free” version of a service can be the ideal fit. However, this solely depends the person and their activities online. If you are an online marketer, stock broker, personal assistant or someone who heavily relays on online services, then purchasing the “PRO” plan is something you may want to consider.

Below, I’ve listed some service that the average internet user does not need to pay for. Avoid the PRO plans and stick free trials and free plans.

3 Services You should NEVER Pay for on the Web

1) Photo Storage:

If you were to google “Photo Storage” you would receive millions of search results, along with thousands of companies offering their services. Out of the thousands of companies there are a few that can be considered reliable and trustworthy. These services all offer PRO plans. However, the free plans they offer will often do the trick.

Dropbox, Box.com and Google Drive are some of the few names that come to mind when thinking of “photo storage”. Each and every one of these services offer a premium plan, which is catered to the more heavy user. So, the more files you have the more likely you would need subscribe to a monthly subscription plan.

A Better (FREE) Option for Photo Storage:

The best option for the average user that does not want to be limited to the number of files they can upload is, Google Photos. Google Photos allows users to have unlimited space. There is a catch though. The photos you add to their servers will be reduced in quality. Don’t let this scare you. If anything, you won’t even be able to tell the difference. The interface is easy to navigate through and completing tasks, such as, sharing albums is as simple as it can get.

2) AdBlockers

I’ve seen a few people who have bought software that would supposedly block ad’s from popping up when browsing the web. This service comes in handy because no matter how you surf the web you will always run into annoying ads. But keeping ad’s from showing on websites and blocking pop-ups can all be taken care of by a simple browsing extension.

Unless you are heavily using sites that are persistent with pop-ups and flashing ads, sticking to free browsing extension would be the perfect match.

A Better (FREE) Option for Adblockers

Download Adblock Plus on either Chrome or Firefox. Over 10 million users have it installed on their computers and it has a rating of 4.8 out 5 in the Chrome store. It is also free! Just simply install the extension on your browser and it will take care of the rest. I do want to mention that you may get a few pop-ups here and there but other than that, you are good to go. You can now browse freely online without worrying about annoying pop-ups and flashy ads.

3) Shipping!

Shopping online has never been easier. You get to find what you want in a matter of minutes and you can have it on your doorstep within less than a day. But what I hate most about shopping online is the shipping costs. At times the shipping fee can cost more than the product itself.

Most stores do offer free shipping but that deal is only active for users who purchase more than $50 to $100. This can be a nuisance when you just want to get yourself a pair a socks or something. I believe that shipping should always be free, unless it’s international.

Many stores do offer free shipping without a minimum amount but these deals only come around once in a while. So whats the way to get free shipping?

A Better Option to Get FREE Shipping

There a few solutions to this problem. Both consist of signing up for free trials.

Your first option is to sign up for Amazon Prime. With Amazon Prime you can get free 2 day shipping along with tons of other perks like Amazon Prime Video. You will have 30 days to shop for whatever you want. After the 30 day period you will be charged the yearly amount for their service. However, you can cancel your Prime Membership before the trial ends and your credit card won’t be charged. If you live outside of the U.S and want to get the perks that U.S residents get when signing up with Amazon Prime you should read this article.

I think the better option is to sign up for a 30 day free trial of ShopRunner. ShopRunner works with hundreds of stores and offer free 2-day shipping for a monthly cost. If you are a frequent online shopper then this service ideal for you. In the long run, you will save money. If you want to try them out, sing up for the trial promotion. Just like amazon, you can cancel before the trial ends, that way you won’t be charged.

These are a few of the ways you can save money online and avoid paying monthly fees for services that can be used for free. There are plenty other services that can also be used for free but these are the top 3 in my opinion.

I like to save people money by blogging about free trials, premium offers and deals on various online services across the web.
